Volatility Capture RSI-Bollinger - Strategy
Jul 10, 2023

The Volatility Capture RSI-Bollinger - Strategy indicator combines Bollinger Bands, the Relative Strength Index (RSI), and dynamic price tracking to capture trend reversals and volatility shifts in financial markets.
Usage
The Usage section focuses on how the script generates signals and how users can adapt it to different market conditions.
- Entering Trades: The strategy generates a long signal when the price crosses over the dynamic "Present Bolling Band." Conversely, a short signal is triggered when the price crosses under this dynamic level.
- RSI Confirmation: Users can toggle the "Use RSI for signals" setting. When enabled, long entries require the RSI SMA to be above the "Bought Range Level," and short entries require it to be below the "Sold Range Level."
- Exiting Trades: Positions are closed when the price crosses back over the dynamic band (e.g., a long position closes when price crosses under the band).
- Directional Bias: The "Trade Direction" input allows users to restrict the strategy to only Longs, only Shorts, or "Both" to match the prevailing market trend.
Details
This strategy introduces a dynamic value called the "Present Bolling Band," which shifts between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands based on the closing price. This allows the indicator to adapt to price movements more fluidly than static bands.
The strategy utilizes the Simple Moving Average (SMA) of high and low prices to calculate its boundaries, combined with a standard deviation multiplier (defaulting to 2.7183). By tracking whether the price is trending above or below this adaptive midpoint, the strategy aims to stay on the right side of volatility while using RSI to filter out low-momentum moves.
