The StockBee 4% Breakout indicator is a momentum-based study tool designed to identify and highlight historical and real-time price bursts based on the StockBee momentum method.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying candles that exhibit strong bullish momentum and volume expansion. When a candle meets the specific breakout criteria, the script colors the bar (typically green/teal) to highlight a potential momentum burst.

Traders can use this tool to:

  • Identify high-probability momentum candidates for further manual analysis.
  • Scan historical charts to understand the price action context surrounding successful 4% breakouts.
  • Filter out "fading" gap-ups, as the script requires the close to be within the top 30% of the candle's range.

Example: A trader looking for a momentum entry would wait for a highlighted bar to appear, confirming that the move is backed by rising volume and a strong close near the high, rather than just a volatile price swing.

Details

The script implements a specific set of logic to define a "Momentum Burst":

  1. Volume Expansion: The current candle's volume must be greater than the previous candle's volume.
  2. Price Velocity: The price must increase by more than 4% compared to the previous candle's close.
  3. Closing Strength: The close must be within the top 30% of the candle's total range (high to low). This ensures the candle is not a "wicky" rejection or a gap-up that failed to hold its gains.

Settings

  • Precision: Determines the number of decimal places used in calculations.
  • Overlay: The indicator is set to overlay mode to color the price bars directly on the main chart.

FAQ

How do I interpret the colored bars? A colored bar indicates that all three criteria for a StockBee 4% Breakout (volume, price percentage, and closing strength) have been met simultaneously.

Does every highlighted candle represent a buy signal? Not necessarily. The tool is designed to find candidates that meet the momentum criteria. Users should still apply their own technical analysis, such as looking at market context, support/resistance, and trend, to determine trade viability.
