Advanced Buy and Sell Signals
Dec 14, 2023

The Advanced Buy and Sell Signals indicator is a comprehensive technical analysis tool that integrates trend identification, momentum, and volume data to generate actionable trading signals.
Usage
The indicator is used to identify potential entry points by filtering trend changes through secondary confirmation filters. The core logic relies on an EMA Trend Cloud (not explicitly plotted but calculated via crosses) to establish the primary direction.
- Buy Signals: Represented by green triangles below the price bar. These occur when a fast EMA crosses above a slow EMA, provided that the RSI is oversold, the Stochastic oscillator shows positive momentum, or the OBV crosses its average.
- Sell Signals: Represented by red triangles above the price bar. These occur when the fast EMA crosses below the slow EMA, provided that the RSI is overbought, the Stochastic oscillator shows negative momentum, or the OBV falls below its average.
Details
The script achieves its "advanced" filtering by combining four distinct technical concepts:
- Trend: Uses the crossover of a Fast and Slow EMA to establish the baseline trend direction.
- Momentum: Utilizes the RSI and Stochastic Oscillator to ensure the signal aligns with market strength or identifies potential reversals from extreme levels.
- Volume: Incorporates On-Balance Volume (OBV) compared to its EMA to confirm that volume is supporting the price movement.
The logic ensures that a simple EMA cross is not enough to trigger a signal; there must be secondary confirmation from at least one of the momentum or volume oscillators, reducing the frequency of false signals in sideways markets.
Settings
EMA Settings
- Fast EMA Length: Determines the period for the fast moving average used in trend detection.
- Slow EMA Length: Determines the period for the slow moving average used in trend detection.
Oscillator Settings
- RSI Length: The lookback period for the Relative Strength Index calculation.
- RSI Overbought Level: The threshold above which the market is considered overbought.
- RSI Oversold Level: The threshold below which the market is considered oversold.
- Stochastic %K: The length used for the raw Stochastic calculation.
- Stochastic %D: The smoothing period for the Stochastic %K line.
Volume Settings
- OBV EMA Length: The period for the moving average applied to the On-Balance Volume to determine volume-based trend shifts.
