mForex - Keltner channel + EMA Scalping system
Jul 14, 2020

The mForex - Keltner channel + EMA Scalping system indicator provides a structured framework for short-term trading by combining trend-following moving averages with volatility-based bands.
Usage
This tool is primarily designed for scalping on lower timeframes such as M5 and M15, specifically targeting liquid pairs like EUR/USD and GBP/USD during the London and New York sessions.
The system relies on the interaction between a fast EMA and the Keltner Channel boundaries:
- Long Setup: Triggered when a candle closes above the upper Keltner band and the primary EMA (EMA 10) crosses above the upper range. Users typically set a stop loss at the middle band (basis) or around 12 pips, with profit targets ranging from 15 to 25 pips.
- Short Setup: Triggered when a candle closes below the lower Keltner band and the primary EMA crosses below the lower range. Similar to long setups, stop losses are often placed at the middle band, with targets between 15 and 25 pips.
Details
The script utilizes a modified Keltner Channel calculation combined with two Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The Keltner Channel uses a 42-period length and identifies the market's volatility range using the True Range. The EMA crossover logic (between the 10-period and 110-period EMAs) serves as a trend confirmation filter to ensure trades are aligned with momentum. The visual representation includes the Keltner bands, a central basis line, and two distinct EMAs to help traders visualize trend strength and potential exhaustion points.
Settings
- Length Keltner: The lookback period (default 42) used to calculate the basis line and the volatility range of the Keltner Channel.
- EMA First: The period for the fast signal EMA (default 10), used for crossover signals.
- EMA Second: The period for the slow baseline EMA (default 110), used to determine the broader trend direction.
