The Momentum Trader + Trinity Lines indicator provides a comprehensive momentum and trend analysis system by combining the Chande Momentum Oscillator, Percentage Price Oscillator, and a three-component "Trinity" line system. This tool is designed to identify high-probability entry and exit points by aligning trend strength with normalized volatility and oscillator readings.

Usage

The indicator is best utilized on standard candlestick charts to avoid the misleading signals often generated by smoothed price types like Heikin Ashi.

Entry Confirmation A long entry is typically signaled when:

  • The Chande Momentum Oscillator (histogram) crosses above the zero line with a positive slope.
  • The Trinity Lines (top section) are aligned in a specific order: Green (BB %b) on top, Yellow (RSI) in the middle, and Red (Stochastic) on the bottom.

Exit Strategy An exit or reversal may be considered when:

  • The Chande Momentum Oscillator exceeds its upper boundary.
  • The Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO) begins to slope downward.
  • The Trinity Lines invert their order to Red, Yellow, Green (top to bottom).

Details

The script integrates several key technical concepts:

  • Chande Momentum Oscillator (CMO): Measures trend strength and potential divergence. High absolute values indicate strong trends, while price/oscillator divergence suggests upcoming reversals.
  • Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO): Functionally similar to MACD but expressed as a percentage, making it easier to compare across different price levels.
  • Trinity Lines: This unique component normalizes Bollinger Band %b and Smoothed Stochastic values to the RSI scale (0-100). This allows for a direct visual comparison between three distinct momentum types on a single pane.

Settings

Chande & PPO Settings

  • Chande Momentum Length: Sets the period for the CMO calculation.
  • PPO Slow/Fast/Signal Length: Adjusts the EMA periods for the Percentage Price Oscillator.
  • Upper/Lower Bound: Defines the overbought and oversold thresholds for the momentum components.

Trinity Lines (BB, RSI, Stochastic)

  • BB %b Period & Multiplier: Controls the sensitivity of the normalized Bollinger Band component.
  • RSI Period: Sets the timeframe for the Relative Strength Index.
  • Use Stochastic: Toggle to include the normalized smoothed Stochastic in the calculation.
  • Stoch Period/Smoothing: Configures the lookback and smoothing for the Stochastic component.

Visuals & Signals

  • Plot Entry and Exit Signals: Toggles the background highlights for trade signals.
  • Possible Dump/Pump Signals: Toggles the display of triangular plotchars for extreme volatility conditions.

FAQ

How do I interpret the Trinity Lines?

The Trinity Lines represent RSI, normalized Bollinger Band %b, and normalized Stochastic. When they expand and align (Green/Yellow/Red), it confirms strong directional momentum.

On which timeframes does this work best?

The "Dump/Pump" arrow logic is specifically optimized for timeframes of 60 minutes or lower, though the core momentum oscillators can be used on any timeframe.
