The BEST MA Cross/MACD Screener indicator allows traders to monitor multiple instruments simultaneously for trend convergences between Moving Average crosses and MACD signals. By consolidating multi-asset analysis into a single pane, it helps identify high-probability trend alignments across various timeframes and symbols.

Usage

The Usage section describes how to interpret the visual output on the screener panel. Each tracked instrument is displayed with a specific shape indicating the signal type:

  • Square: Convergence detected. Both the Moving Average cross and the MACD are providing a signal in the same direction.
  • Circle: Only a Moving Average cross is currently active.
  • Diamond: Only a MACD signal is currently active.

Colors represent the trend direction:

  • Green: Bullish signal or trend.
  • Red: Bearish signal or trend.
  • Blue/Neutral: No clear signal detected based on the current settings.

Traders can add the script multiple times to the chart to track more than four instruments or to compare different timeframe configurations for the same assets.

Details

This tool is built on the concept of trend convergence, where multiple independent indicators must agree to validate a stronger market bias. The script calculates a Moving Average crossover (using two customizable MA types and lengths) and a standard MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) signal line cross.

The implementation utilizes the request.security() function to fetch data for up to four different symbols. It supports a wide array of Moving Average types including SMA, EMA, WMA, VWMA, HullMA, DEMA, TEMA, and SMMA, providing flexibility for different trading styles from scalping to swing trading.
