Stockbee Screener - Momentum Burst & Episodic Pivot Scanner
Jan 26, 2026

The Stockbee Screener - Momentum Burst & Episodic Pivot Scanner indicator is a multi-filter screening tool designed to identify stocks exhibiting momentum bursts and institutional accumulation. It implements the signature setups of Pradeep Bonde (Stockbee) to help traders catch explosive range expansion at the earliest possible stage.
Usage
The script functions as a comprehensive scanner to filter for high-probability momentum setups. Users can toggle various filters to narrow down a watchlist based on specific market conditions:
- Momentum Burst Identification: Uses the +4% Change Flag to detect bullish range expansion, often signaling the start of a multi-day run.
- Institutional Activity: Monitors for "9M Volume Flags" and "Episodic Pivots" (EPs) where massive volume indicates significant institutional participation.
- Trend Confirmation: Utilizes the TI65 (Trend Intensity) metric to ensure the stock is in a confirmed uptrend rather than choppy price action.
- Pattern Filtering: Includes specific sub-scans like "Ants TTT" for identifying extremely tight consolidations and "Ants Bullish" for steady, gap-less momentum.
Details
The indicator is built upon the philosophy that stocks often move in 3 to 5-day bursts of 8-40%. To capture these, the script calculates several proprietary metrics:
- Trend Intensity (TI65): Defined as
avgC7 / avgC65 >= 1.05. This ensures the short-term trend is at least 5% above the medium-term trend. - Tight-Tight-Tight (TTT): Searches for a 3-bar price range ≤1.5% followed by a daily range ≤0.3%, indicating the "quiet before the storm" often seen before institutional breakouts.
- Bullish Combo (BMS): A dual-condition scan requiring a specific bullish candle profile (price and volume) followed by a definitive breakout with high close strength.
- Extension Risk: Calculates the distance from the 50-day SMA in ATR units to help users avoid entering stocks that are severely overextended.
Settings
Entry & Filters
- Entry MA Period: Sets the period for the ATR-daylight threshold (default is 70).
- ATR Multiple: Determines how many ATRs price must be above the MA to trigger an entry signal.
- Use +DI > -DI Filter: Enables a directional movement filter to reduce false signals in bearish or sideways markets.
Pattern Specifics
- Ants TTT Group: Controls the volume threshold, minimum price, and maximum percentage tightness for consolidation scans.
- Ants Bullish Group: Configures parameters for "Momentum Without Gaps" (MWG), including gap detection lookbacks and daily volatility limits.
- Bullish Combo Group: Defines the specific volume and price surge requirements for the combo breakout scan.
Risk & Display
- Max ATR Extension: Sets the threshold for identifying overextended stocks (0-7 is normal, 10+ is severe).
- ADR Period: Sets the lookback for Average Daily Range calculations to measure volatility.
- Show Info Labels: Toggles the visual dashboard on the chart.
FAQ
How do I interpret the scan results on my chart? The indicator populates labels and metrics on the chart overlay. When multiple criteria (like TI65, volume surges, and price expansion) align, the stock is considered a high-probability momentum candidate.
Can I use this for intraday trading? While based on daily momentum methodology, the logic of range expansion and volume surges can be applied to various timeframes, though it is optimized for daily "Momentum Bursts."
How can I access the Stockbee Screener - Momentum Burst & Episodic Pivot Scanner? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
