The Reversal Entry Zones indicator identifies confirmed structural turning points by tracking swing extremes and validating them only after price reverses by a minimum adaptive threshold. Unlike standard pivot markers that label every local high and low, this tool focuses on selective reversal confirmation to map out meaningful bullish and bearish zones on the chart.

Usage

The script can be used to map out market structure and identify potential areas of interest where price has previously shown a significant shift in direction.

  • Structural Mapping: Use the layered zones (Core and Outer) to identify the range of a confirmed reversal rather than just a single price level.
  • Reaction Analysis: Utilize the Reversal Lines and Projected Zones to observe how price interacts with historical reversal levels as it returns to them.
  • Trend Context: The optional Synthetic Path provides a visual sequence of confirmed reversals, helping users see if the market is alternating between bullish and bearish structures or maintaining a specific directional bias.
  • Volatility Adaptation: By adjusting the Sensitivity Preset, users can filter out minor price fluctuations in high-volatility environments or capture more frequent turns in stable markets.

Details

This tool is built on a "confirmation-delay" logic. Instead of marking a pivot the moment a local high or low is formed, the script tracks an active swing and only "confirms" the peak or trough once price has moved a specific distance in the opposite direction.

This distance, or Reversal Threshold, is calculated as the maximum of three components:

  1. ATR-based volatility: Adapts the threshold based on recent market range.
  2. Percentage-based movement: Ensures a minimum relative price shift.
  3. Absolute price value: A hard floor to prevent noise in low-volatility assets.

Settings

Confirmation Settings

  • Extra Confirmation Bars: Adds an additional delay to the reversal recognition to ensure the trend has truly turned.

Sensitivity

  • Preset: Choose between "Low" (more active) and "Very Low" (more selective) to control how large a move must be to qualify as a reversal.

Reversal Calculation

  • Swing Source: Select "Average" for smoothed EMA-based structure or "High/Low" for raw price extremes.
  • Average Length: The smoothing period used when the source is set to Average.
  • ATR Length: The lookback period for the Average True Range used in threshold and zone calculations.
  • Minimum Absolute Reversal: A fixed price value that acts as the minimum requirement for a reversal.

Zone Display

  • Show Reversal Labels: Toggles the "Bullish/Bearish Reversal" tags on the chart.
  • Show Projected Zones: Extends a forward-looking zone from the reversal point.
  • Max Projected Zones: Limits the number of historical zones displayed to maintain chart clarity.
  • Zone Extension: Controls how many bars into the future the projected zones extend.
  • Zone Thickness (%): Adjusts the vertical height of the projected zones relative to price.

Reversal Lines

  • Reversal Line Extension: Determines the length of the horizontal lines at the reversal level.
  • Max Reversal Levels: Limits the total number of historical levels kept on the chart.

Synthetic Path

  • Show Synthetic Path: Connects confirmed reversal points with a line to visualize the structural sequence.

FAQ

How do I access the Reversal Entry Zones indicator?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Why doesn't the indicator mark a reversal immediately at the high or low?

The script is designed to avoid "repainting" or labeling false peaks. It waits for the price to reverse by a specific threshold to confirm that the prior extreme was a meaningful structural turn.

What is the difference between the Core and Outer zones?

The Core box represents the immediate price level of the confirmed pivot, while the Outer box provides a wider volatility-aware area around that pivot, creating a "zone" of interest rather than a single point.
