The Kozlod - Yet Another Moving Average Cross Alerts indicator provides a flexible framework for detecting crossovers across nine different moving average types with integrated profit target and stop loss tracking.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trend shifts and manage trade exits. Users can select two moving averages (short and long) and observe their interactions on the chart. A "Long" signal is triggered when the short MA crosses above the long MA, while a "Short" signal occurs when the short MA crosses below the long MA.

Beyond entry signals, the tool includes built-in risk management features. By defining percentage-based Profit Target (PT) and Stop Loss (SL) levels, the script visualizes where potential exits would occur relative to the trade entry price. The script tracks the state of the trade, marking "Exit" points when price action reaches these predefined thresholds.

Details

The script offers nine distinct moving average algorithms to cater to different market conditions and smoothing preferences:

  • Simple Moving Average (SMA): The arithmetic mean of price over a period.
  • Exponential Moving Average (EMA): Prioritizes recent data to reduce lag.
  • Weighted Moving Average (WMA): Assigns a linear weighting to recent prices.
  • Arnaud Legoux Moving Average (ALMA): Uses a Gaussian distribution to provide superior smoothness and responsiveness.
  • Hull Moving Average (HMA): Designed to reduce lag while maintaining smoothness.
  • Volume-weighted Moving Average (VWMA): Weights price based on trading volume.
  • Least Square Moving Average (LSMA): Calculates a linear regression line for the specified period.
  • Smoothed Moving Average (SMMA): Similar to a simple moving average but over a longer period.
  • Double Exponential Moving Average (DEMA): A faster EMA variant that significantly reduces lag.

The indicator also calculates trade management levels based on the opening price of the bar following a crossover signal.

Settings

Main Settings

  • MA Type: Selects the calculation method for both the short and long moving averages.
  • Short MA Length: Sets the lookback period for the faster moving average.
  • Short MA Source: Determines the price data (e.g., Close, Open, High) used for the short MA.
  • Long MA Length: Sets the lookback period for the slower moving average.
  • Long MA Source: Determines the price data used for the long MA.

Calculation Specifics

  • ALMA Offset: Adjusts the Gaussian distribution offset for the ALMA (0 to 1).
  • ALMA Sigma: Adjusts the width of the Gaussian distribution for the ALMA.
  • LSMA Offset: Determines the regression offset for the Least Square Moving Average.

Exit Levels

  • SL Level %: Defines the percentage-based stop loss from the entry price. Set to 0 to disable.
  • PT Level %: Defines the percentage-based profit target from the entry price. Set to 0 to disable.

FAQ

How do I interpret the chart symbols? Arrows indicate crossover entries (green for long, red for short), while "x" marks indicate exit points where price hit a Profit Target (PT) or Stop Loss (SL).

Can I set alerts for different MA types? Yes, the alerts will dynamically trigger based on whichever moving average type and length you have selected in the settings menu.
