RSI MTF 3D (For Fun)
May 2, 2021

The RSI MTF 3D (For Fun) indicator provides a unique three-dimensional visualization of the Relative Strength Index (RSI) across multiple timeframes directly on the chart.
Usage
The Usage section focuses on interpreting the dual-timeframe RSI data within the 3D grid:
- Current Timeframe RSI: Displayed on the front plane of the 3D grid, reflecting real-time momentum.
- Higher Time Frame (HTF) RSI: Projected onto the background plane, allowing users to compare local momentum against broader trends.
- Color Logic: The RSI lines change color based on standard overbought and oversold thresholds. Bullish colors appear when the RSI is below 30, while bearish colors appear when the RSI is above 70.
- Visual Cues: When the "More Fun" setting is enabled, the script plots emojis to signal shifts out of extreme overbought or oversold conditions.
Details
The script utilizes TradingView's line and fill drawing primitives to construct a 3D perspective grid. It calculates the RSI for the current chart and fetches RSI data from a user-defined higher timeframe using request.security. The 3D effect is achieved by offsetting the x and y coordinates of the HTF RSI relative to the current timeframe's RSI, creating a depth-of-field effect that aids in visual multi-timeframe analysis.
Settings
- Higher Time Frame: Determines the timeframe used for the secondary RSI calculation (e.g., 15-minute, 1-hour).
- More Fun: A toggle to enable or disable visual emoji markers when the RSI exits the 30/70 threshold levels.
FAQ
How do I use the 3D perspective?
The 3D perspective is designed to show the relationship between short-term and long-term momentum. If both lines are in the same zone (e.g., both are oversold), it may indicate a stronger confluence for a reversal.
What do the emojis represent?
The emojis appear when the RSI moves back inside the neutral range from an extreme level, signifying a potential change in momentum.
