FXN - Buy Sell Signals, EMA 5 / 13 Cross
Oct 28, 2019

The FXN - Buy Sell Signals, EMA 5 / 13 Cross indicator identifies potential trend reversals and entry points based on the crossing of two exponential moving averages within specific trading windows. It is designed to filter noise by focusing on high-volume sessions, providing clear visual cues for momentum shifts.
Usage
The tool identifies bullish momentum when the 5-period MA crosses above the 13-period MA and bearish momentum when it crosses below. By default, these signals are filtered to only appear during the London and New York trading sessions, where market liquidity is highest.
Users can employ this script to:
- Identify Trend Shifts: Monitor the primary 5/13 cross for early entry signals.
- Filter for Sessions: Use the built-in session logic to ignore signals that occur during low-volatility periods.
- Compare Signals: Enable a secondary "Comparative Signal" with different lengths or MA types to confirm the primary signal's strength.
- Visual Context: View long-term EMA levels (50, 200, 365, 800) to understand the broader market trend.
Details
The script is built with flexibility in mind, allowing users to choose from several moving average types including EMA, SMA, WMA, HMA, VWMA, RMA, and ALMA. It specifically checks for the 15-minute timeframe to ensure the signals align with the intended intraday strategy.
A key feature is the session filter, which uses customizable start and end times (defaulting to EST). The script automatically handles UTC offsets if the chart is set to UTC, ensuring the London and New York session highlights remain accurate.
