Ruler's Multiple Moving Averages - 8 EMA/MA
Sep 25, 2018

The Ruler's Multiple Moving Averages - 8 EMA/MA tool provides a consolidated interface for monitoring eight distinct exponential and simple moving averages simultaneously to optimize chart space and technical analysis efficiency.
Usage
The Ruler's Multiple Moving Averages - 8 EMA/MA is designed for traders who utilize multiple trend-following metrics to identify market direction, dynamic support and resistance levels, and potential entry or exit points. By combining short-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMA) with long-term Simple Moving Averages (SMA), users can observe various market cycles on a single chart.
Typical usage scenarios include:
- Trend Confirmation: Using the 200 SMA and 500 SMA to determine the long-term primary trend while using the 9 EMA and 13 EMA for short-term momentum.
- Crossover Strategies: Monitoring the interaction between the 9 EMA (Entry) and 13 EMA (Fast) for early trend shifts.
- Dynamic Support/Resistance: Observing how price reacts to institutional levels like the 50 SMA and 100 SMA.
The script includes visibility toggles for both the SMA and EMA groups, allowing users to declutter their charts based on their current analysis needs.
Details
This script implements a collection of four Simple Moving Averages and four Exponential Moving Averages. The default values are rooted in common technical analysis standards:
- SMAs: 50, 100, 200, and 500 periods.
- EMAs: 9, 13, 26, and 55 periods.
The tool includes built-in alert conditions for specific crossovers. It monitors when the Entry EMA (9) crosses the Fast EMA (13), and when the primary SMA (50) crosses the secondary SMA (100). This provides automated notifications for momentum shifts without requiring constant manual chart monitoring. The original concept was developed by @TheCryptoRuler, with implementation updates for optimized performance and visual clarity.
