The Multi SMA EMA WMA HMA BB (4x7 MAs Bollinger Bands) Adv MTF indicator is a comprehensive technical analysis tool designed to visualize up to 28 moving averages and a Bollinger Band set across multiple timeframes and symbols simultaneously. This tool helps traders identify trend alignment, support/resistance clusters, and volatility across various periodicities on a single chart.

Usage

The indicator organizes its outputs into four primary Moving Average (MA) groups and one Bollinger Band (BB) group. Each group is highly customizable:

  • Multi-Timeframe Analysis: You can assign different timeframes (e.g., M15, H1, D1, W1) to each group. This allows you to see how long-term trends interact with short-term price action.
  • Dynamic Levels: Beyond standard lines, the script can display MAs as "Levels" (labels and price tracking lines) on the right side of the chart. These can be offset and indented to prevent overlap.
  • Smoothing and Filtering: The indicator includes a custom smoothing algorithm (X/Y step line) to reduce visual "stair-stepping" common in MTF indicators. You can also filter which MAs appear based on the current chart timeframe (e.g., show only TFs greater than or equal to the current one).
  • Symbol Comparisons: Each group supports a custom ticker input. This enables you to overlay the MAs of one asset (e.g., BTCUSD) onto the chart of another (e.g., ETHUSD) or compare the same asset across different exchanges.

Details

The script is built to handle complex multi-timeframe logic efficiently. It supports nine different MA types, including:

  • Standard: SMA, EMA, WMA, VWMA, RMA.
  • Advanced: HMA (Hull), ALMA (Arnaud Legoux), LinReg (Linear Regression), and SWMA (Symmetrically Weighted).

The "Advanced MTF" logic includes a "Remove Duplicates" option to clean the UI if multiple groups are set to the same parameters. It also utilizes manual string inputs for timeframes (e.g., "240", "4H", "3D") to bypass the limitations of standard dropdown menus, allowing for custom periods not natively available in all account types.

Settings

Visibility & Filtering

  • Show Groups: Toggle visibility for each of the four MA groups and the BB group.
  • TF Mode: Filters groups based on the chart's timeframe (options: all, >=, <=, >, <, =).
  • Show Duplicates: When disabled, it hides redundant MA groups with identical types and timeframes.

MA Group Configuration (Groups 1-4)

  • Symbol: Specify a custom ticker (e.g., "NASDAQ:AAPL"). Leave blank for the current symbol.
  • Timeframe: Set the period (e.g., "0" for current, "60" for hourly, "D" for daily).
  • Type: Choose the calculation method (SMA, EMA, HMA, etc.).
  • MA Lengths: Seven individual length inputs per group (Total 28 MAs).

Bollinger Bands (BB Group)

  • BB Length/StdDev: Controls the lookback period and the width of the volatility bands.
  • BB Type/TF: Independent calculation type and timeframe for the Bollinger set.

Visuals & Smoothing

  • X/Y Smoothing: Adjusts the "stepping" of MTF lines. Delta X controls point density, while Delta Y controls vertical step thresholds.
  • Level Offsets/Indents: Adjusts the horizontal and vertical positioning of the price levels on the right margin.
  • Max Bars Back: Limits the calculation range to improve performance on long histories.

FAQ

How do I use this indicator to find confluence? Look for areas where multiple moving averages from different timeframes (e.g., a Daily EMA 50 and an H4 EMA 200) cluster together. These "Value Areas" often act as significant support or resistance.

Why are some MAs not appearing on my chart? Ensure you have enough historical data; a Weekly EMA 200 requires at least 200 weeks of data. Also, check the "Timeframe Filter" settings to ensure the MAs aren't being filtered out by the "Current TF" logic.
