The Adaptive ATR Volatility Targets indicator provides dynamic, volatility-based price levels to help traders identify projected expansion zones above and below a chosen anchor point. By utilizing Average True Range (ATR) or Average Daily Range (ADR), the tool calculates potential exhaustion and target levels in fractional increments, offering a roadmap for session, daily, or weekly price movement.

Usage

This tool is primarily used to establish profit targets, identify overextended price conditions, and locate potential reversal zones based on historical volatility. Traders can select a center anchor—such as the session open or previous close—from which the volatility bands expand.

Key usage scenarios include:

  • Target Selection: Use the 0.50 and 1.0 volatility levels as primary profit-taking objectives during a trend.
  • Expansion Confirmation: Monitor the "Golden Target" (0.618) to confirm trend strength or anticipate minor pullbacks before price reaches full volatility expansion.
  • Trend Context: Use the visual zone fills to quickly determine if price is trading within a normal range or pushing into extended territory.
  • Historical Analysis: Enable the history feature to see how price interacted with previous volatility levels to identify recurring support or resistance zones.

Details

The indicator calculates its levels based on a user-defined timeframe and length, allowing it to adapt to different market conditions. Unlike fixed percentage bands, these levels expand or contract based on the actual realized volatility (ATR or ADR) of the asset. The levels are plotted in 0.25 increments, with major emphasis placed on the 0.5 and 1.0 levels. The "Golden Target" at 0.618 provides a Fibonacci-based refinement to the standard volatility grid, often acting as a high-probability reaction point.
