Moving Averages

The Moving Averages For All Timeframes indicator provides a comprehensive multi-timeframe moving average solution that allows traders to manage up to 15 different moving averages across intraday, daily, weekly, and monthly scales within a single tool. This script simplifies chart analysis by automatically displaying relevant averages based on the current chart period, reducing clutter while maintaining essential trend context.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on how the script dynamically adjusts its display based on the selected timeframe. Users can configure specific sets of moving averages for different trading horizons:

  • Intraday Trading: When viewing sub-daily charts, the indicator can display up to five customizable moving averages. A "Cloud" feature is available to highlight the area between the first two intraday averages, helping to visualize trend momentum and crossovers.
  • Daily Analysis: On daily charts, users can toggle five distinct averages. A unique feature allows the display of a "Weekly on Daily" average, providing high-level weekly trend context without leaving the daily timeframe.
  • Weekly & Monthly Horizons: For long-term analysis, the script offers dedicated configurations for weekly (up to four averages) and monthly charts. This ensures that when you switch to a monthly view, you only see the averages relevant to that macro perspective.

To use the indicator effectively, select your preferred calculation method (SMA, EMA, RMA, VWMA, or WMA) and length for each timeframe group. The indicator will automatically hide intraday averages when you switch to a daily chart and vice versa, keeping your workspace clean.

Details

The script is designed with a hierarchical visibility logic. It detects the current chart timeframe and filters the active plots accordingly.

  • Calculation Methods: The tool supports Simple (SMA), Exponential (EMA), Running (RMA), Volume Weighted (VWMA), and Weighted (WMA) moving averages.
  • Cloud Logic: The optional cloud fills are calculated by comparing the relative positions of the primary and secondary averages in each group. A bullish color is applied when the faster average is above the slower one, and a bearish color when it is below.
  • Refactoring: This version has been refactored and visually updated from the original @LevelUpTools version by the LuxAlgo team to optimize performance and streamline the alert interface.
