The Q Momentum Flow indicator is a hybrid trend engine that identifies impulse-driven price shifts and filters them through adaptive volatility bands to provide high-probability directional signals.

Usage

The Q Momentum Flow script can be used to identify trend reversals and momentum breakouts across various timeframes. Traders can look for Buy/Sell arrows which appear when momentum shifts align with the underlying trend framework.

  • Entries: A Buy signal occurs when price breaks above dynamic impulse levels while the adaptive trend is bullish. Conversely, a Sell signal triggers when price breaks below impulse levels while the adaptive trend is bearish.
  • Exits: The tool includes "Exit" labels that signal when the current trend is weakening or reversing. These serve as early warnings to secure profits or minimize losses before a full opposite signal is generated.
  • Trend Filtering: The background and bar colors provide immediate regime clarity, helping traders stay on the right side of the market volatility.

Details

The script operates on two primary logic layers:

  1. Impulse-Momentum Logic: Uses ATR-based breakout levels calculated over a specific lookback period. It enforces a cooldown period (minimum bars) between signals to filter out market noise and whip-saw price action.
  2. Adaptive Trend Framework: Combines a dual-EMA anchor with standard deviation bands. Unlike static bands, these levels adapt based on smoothed price volatility, widening during high-activity periods and tightening during consolidation.

Settings

Trend Logic

  • Trend Length: Determines the lookback period for the adaptive trend bands and EMA anchors.
  • Smoothing: Sets the smoothing factor for volatility calculations to ensure stable band generation.
  • Sensitivity: Adjusts the multiplier for the volatility bands; higher values require more significant price movement to trigger a trend change.
