The ANN MACD WTI (West Texas Intermediate) indicator is a specialized forecasting tool that utilizes an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to analyze and predict price momentum specifically for the WTI crude oil market. By processing multiple technical inputs through a multi-layer deep learning architecture, it aims to provide a refined MACD-style histogram for trend identification.

Usage

The indicator is visualized as a histogram around a zero line, similar to a standard MACD but derived from neural network outputs.

  • Trend Identification: When the histogram is green and below the zero line, it indicates a bullish posture based on the ANN's processed momentum. Conversely, when the histogram is red and above the zero line, it indicates a bearish posture.
  • Crossovers: The crossing of the "Forecast" (cross plot) over the zero line serves as a primary signal for potential trend shifts.
  • Bar Coloring: Users can enable the "Barcolor" setting to highlight the chart bars according to the current bullish or bearish sentiment determined by the ANN.

Details

This tool is built upon a neural network trained on 4-hour WTI data. It utilizes 19 input nodes, including RSI, Volume, MACD Histogram, Momentum, and Bollinger Band components, alongside 12 Guppy Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The data passes through a hidden layer structure (2-6-0 configuration) using a Tanh activation function to produce a final output that represents the expected price change. This output is then smoothed using traditional MACD calculations to generate the final visual signals.

Settings

General Settings

  • Barcolor I / 0?: Enables or disables the painting of chart candles based on the indicator's sentiment.
  • BB Length: Sets the period for the internal Bollinger Bands calculation used as an ANN input.
  • BB Multiplier: Adjusts the standard deviation multiplier for the internal Bollinger Bands.

EMA Settings

  • Fast EMA (1-6): Configures the periods for the short-term Guppy EMAs used in the neural network inputs.
  • Slow EMA (7-12): Configures the periods for the long-term Guppy EMAs used in the neural network inputs.

FAQ

How do I interpret the zero line crosses?

In this specific ANN implementation, the histogram values are processed such that values below zero typically represent bullish momentum, while values above zero represent bearish momentum, as defined by the internal training logic.

Can I use this on other assets besides WTI?

While the logic is applicable to other markets, the neural network weights were specifically trained on West Texas Intermediate (WTI) 4-hour data, so performance may vary significantly on other tickers or timeframes.
