Supply and Demand Strategy
Jun 27, 2024

The Supply and Demand Strategy indicator is designed to identify key support and resistance zones on a price chart to help traders find high-probability reversal areas. By automating the detection of supply (resistance) and demand (support) zones, the tool provides visual entry and exit points based on historical price reactions.
Usage
The Supply and Demand Strategy can be used to identify areas where the price has historically reversed, indicating a high concentration of buyers or sellers.
- Demand Zones: These areas represent a high concentration of buyers. When the price enters a demand zone and provides a confirmation signal, it suggests a potential buy opportunity.
- Supply Zones: These areas represent a high concentration of sellers. When the price enters a supply zone and provides a confirmation signal, it suggests a potential sell opportunity.
Traders often use higher time frames (Daily or Weekly) to identify the most significant zones and lower time frames (1-hour or 4-hour) to pinpoint precise entry signals. The strategy generates "Buy" labels when the price moves out of a demand zone with confirmation and "Sell" labels when it moves out of a supply zone with confirmation.
Details
The script calculates zones based on the highest and lowest price points over a specified lookback period.
- Zone Identification: It determines the supply zone by finding the highest price over the
Zone Lengthand the demand zone by finding the lowest price over the same period. - Confirmation Mechanism: It uses a secondary, shorter lookback period (
Confirmation Length) applied to the closing price. A signal is triggered when the previous candle's close was beyond the established zone, but the current close moves back within the confirmation range, suggesting a successful reversal.
Settings
- Zone Length: Sets the lookback period used to identify the historical highest (Supply) and lowest (Demand) points.
- Confirmation Length: Determines the lookback period for the confirmation calculation, used to filter and trigger the final buy or sell signals.
