KillZones & Sessions Volume | Asia, London & NY (am-pm)
May 15, 2024

The KillZones & Sessions Volume | Asia, London & NY indicator provides a comprehensive visual framework for tracking major market sessions and their high-volatility "Kill Zones" directly on the chart. It simplifies time-based analysis by highlighting the Asia (Sydney/Tokyo), London (Frankfurt/London), and New York (AM/PM) sessions alongside their respective periods of peak trading volume.
Usage
The tool is designed to help traders focus on specific windows of liquidity. Usage revolves around identifying session highs and lows while monitoring the colored "Kill Zones" for potential trade setups.
- Session Visualization: Trading sessions are represented by horizontal lines marking the high and low of the period.
- Kill Zones: These are highlighted as filled color background areas within a session. They represent segments where price fluctuations and trading volumes are typically at their peak.
- More Info Overlay: By enabling "More Info," users can view granular data within the Kill Zone, including the number of candles, elapsed time, and total traded volume.
- Time Management: Use the default UTC-aligned times (Asia: 23:00-06:00, London: 07:00-14:25, NY AM: 14:30-19:25, NY PM: 19:30-22:55) or customize them to avoid overlaps and match specific strategies.
Details
The indicator segmentizes the 24-hour forex market into four primary blocks. It distinguishes between the broader session (the full duration a market is active) and the Kill Zone (the specific window of highest impact). This distinction is crucial for intraday traders who seek to avoid "choppy" low-volume periods. The implementation uses high/low lines to maintain session context even after the Kill Zone has ended, providing clear breakout or mean-reversion levels.
