Volume BasedLiquidity

The HTF Volume Liquidity Profile indicator projects a volume profile from a higher timeframe directly onto your current chart, creating a visual heatmap of liquidity concentrations and buying/selling pressure.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify key market areas. This tool is designed to help traders see the "big picture" of volume distribution without switching chart timeframes.

  • Setup: Add the tool to your chart and select a "Higher TimeFrame" (e.g., 1D for a 5-minute chart). Adjust the "Profile Resolution" to determine how many price segments the profile should contain.
  • Reading Heatmaps: Darker, more opaque background boxes indicate High Volume Nodes (HVNs) where the most significant activity occurred.
  • Analyzing Delta: The inner mini-boxes represent the proportion of bullish versus bearish volume at each price level. A longer green box indicates buyer dominance at that specific price, while a longer red box indicates seller dominance.
  • Sentiment Summary: A label at the bottom of each block provides a summary of the total up volume, down volume, and net volume delta, helping you determine the overall sentiment for the interval.

Details

The script calculates the highest and lowest prices of the chosen higher timeframe and divides that range into segments based on the resolution setting. It then tallies the volume of every lower timeframe candle that falls into each segment. This volume is further categorized into positive and negative flows based on whether the individual candles closed green or red, effectively acting as a lightweight footprint chart for higher timeframe intervals.

Settings

Main Settings

  • Higher TimeFrame: The timeframe used to build each heatmap block (e.g., 1H, 4H, 1D).
  • Profile Resolution: The number of vertical price segments in each heatmap. Higher values provide more detail but increase visual complexity.

Appearance

  • Show Heatmap: Enables or disables the primary volume-based background boxes.
  • Show Mini Delta Bars: Enables or disables the inner positive/negative mini boxes for granular delta analysis.
  • Bullish Colour: Sets the color for bullish volume and positive net-volume segments.
  • Bearish Colour: Sets the color for bearish volume and negative net-volume segments.

FAQ

  • How do I interpret the transparency of the boxes? The more opaque a box is, the higher the volume relative to other levels in that specific timeframe block.
  • Can I use this for scalping? Yes, by using a higher timeframe like 1-hour or 4-hour on a 1-minute chart, you can identify intraday liquidity zones.
  • How do I access HTF Volume Liquidity Profile? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
