Trendline Breakouts With Targets
Sep 25, 2023

The Trendline Breakouts With Targets indicator automatically identifies trendline breakouts and breakdowns using pivot point analysis to help traders find potential entry points and price targets. By combining automated trendline plotting with filtering and risk management tools, it provides a comprehensive framework for trading price action reversals.
Usage
The Trendline Breakouts With Targets tool identifies significant market shifts by monitoring price interaction with diagonal support and resistance.
- Breakout/Breakdown Signals: When the price closes above a descending trendline (breakout) or below an ascending trendline (breakdown), the script generates a signal label on the chart.
- Trade Management: Upon a valid signal, the script automatically projects a target level. This "Target" label is initially orange. If the price reaches the target, the label turns green. If the price moves against the trade and hits the stop-loss level, the label turns red.
- Trendline Visualization: The tool draws trendlines based on recent pivot points. Users can choose to base these on wicks for a more conservative approach or candle bodies for a tighter fit.
Details
The script utilizes pivot highs and lows over a user-defined period to establish anchor points for trendlines. To improve reliability, it incorporates a "False Signal Filter" using volatility-adjusted bands (calculated via ATR) around the trendlines. This ensures that signals are only triggered when the price definitively breaks the trend area rather than just touching it.
The target calculation is also volatility-dependent, ensuring that profit targets are scaled relative to the current market environment.

FAQ
How do I use the target labels?
The target labels provide a visual goal for the breakout. An orange label indicates an active trade, green indicates the target was reached, and red indicates the stop-loss was triggered.
Can I adjust the sensitivity of the breakouts?
Yes, by adjusting the Period setting. A lower period will result in more frequent, shorter-term trendlines, while a higher period will focus on major market structures.
How can I access Trendline Breakouts With Targets?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
