The Pre-Market Breakout Levels indicator automatically identifies and plots the high and low price levels established during the New York pre-market session, providing traders with clear horizontal levels to anticipate volatility and potential breakouts at the market open.

Usage

The tool is primarily used by day traders to establish a "trading range" before the official New York market open. By visualizing the pre-market extremes, users can monitor for breakouts when the regular session begins. For example, if the price breaks above the high level with significant volume, it may indicate a bullish continuation for the session. Conversely, a break below the low level may suggest bearish sentiment.

The indicator also includes built-in alerts that trigger when the price crosses above the pre-market high or below the pre-market low, allowing for timely execution without constant chart monitoring.

Details

The script tracks the price action within a user-defined session (defaulting to 07:00-09:30). During this time, it dynamically updates the highest high and lowest low. Once the session concludes, these levels are preserved on the chart. The implementation uses TradingView's line drawings to ensure a clean visual representation that can optionally be extended to the right of the chart for easier reference throughout the trading day.

Settings

  • USA Pre-Market Hours: Defines the specific time range and days of the week to calculate the breakout levels.
  • Line Color: Customizes the color of the high and low level lines.
  • Line Style: Allows the user to choose between Solid, Dotted, or Dashed line appearances.
  • Line Width: Adjusts the thickness of the horizontal levels.
  • Extend Lines: Determines whether the levels should remain fixed at the session end or extend infinitely to the right.
