SAR+RSI+EMAs Signals
Feb 1, 2022

The SAR+RSI+EMAs Signals indicator provides a comprehensive trend-following system that combines momentum, volatility, and moving averages to identify high-probability entry points. By integrating the Parabolic SAR, Relative Strength Index (RSI), and dual Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), this tool aims to capture impulsive movements within established trends while filtering out noise during market corrections.
Usage
The script generates "Buy" and "Sell" labels based on the alignment of three core factors: trend direction, discount identification, and momentum stimulus.
- Trend Alignment: Long signals require the closing price to be above the Parabolic SAR and the Fast EMA to be above the Slow EMA. Short signals require the inverse.
- Momentum Stimulus: The RSI acts as the trigger. A "Buy" signal occurs when RSI crosses above 50 (momentum shift) or 30 (recovery from oversold), provided the trend conditions are met. Conversely, a "Sell" signal occurs when RSI crosses below 50 or 70.
- Filtering: Users can enable a built-in MATD (Moving Average Trend Detector) filter to ensure signals align with a longer-term trend, reducing false signals in ranging markets.
Details
The indicator is built on the philosophy that a robust setup requires a trend detector (SAR/EMAs), a discount finder (RSI levels), and a stimulus (RSI crossovers).
- Parabolic SAR: Used to define the immediate trend and as a potential dynamic stop-loss level.
- Dual EMAs: The relationship between the 7-period and 21-period EMAs identifies the medium-term trend direction.
- MATD Filter: This secondary trend filter uses a smoothed distance between price and a selectable moving average (SMA, EMA, WMA, etc.) to confirm the broader market bias.
Settings
Core Indicators
- Fast EMA Length: Sets the period for the fast moving average (default is 7).
- Slow EMA Length: Sets the period for the slow moving average (default is 21).
- RSI Length: Adjusts the period for the Relative Strength Index calculation.
- RSI oversold level: Defines the threshold for oversold conditions (default is 30).
- Use high & low instead of close for fast EMA: When enabled, the fast EMA uses high prices for long signals and low prices for short signals to create a more lenient trend filter.
MATD Filter
- Use MATD as a filter: Toggles the additional long-term trend filter.
- MA Length / Source / Type: Configures the base moving average used for the MATD calculation.
- Distance Length: Sets the period for calculating the distance from the MA.
- Smoothing: Adjusts the smoothing period for the final trend output.
