The Bitcoin H4 Buy Sell Signals indicator provides a structured approach to identifying trend direction and momentum-based entry points through a filtered MACD crossover mechanism.

Usage

The indicator is designed to help traders identify bullish and bearish momentum shifts with a focus on filtering out market noise.

  • Trend Identification: The area between the EMAs is color-coded to represent the current momentum based on the MACD. A green area indicates bullish momentum (MACD > Signal Line), while a red area indicates bearish momentum (MACD < Signal Line).
  • Buy Signals: Represented by green circles below the price bars. These occur when the MACD line crosses above the signal line, provided the crossover meets the "Min Crossover Distance" requirement.
  • Sell Signals: Represented by red circles above the price bars. These occur when the MACD line crosses below the signal line, provided the magnitude of the crossunder exceeds the set threshold.

Traders can use these signals for potential entries or exits, often looking for buy signals during established uptrends or sell signals during downtrends to increase the probability of success.

Details

The tool combines Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) with a standard MACD calculation to determine market state. A key component of this script is the Crossover Strength Filter. Unlike standard MACD crossovers that trigger on any intersection, this script requires the distance between the MACD and Signal lines to be greater than a user-defined percentage of the current price. This ensures that only significant momentum shifts trigger a visual signal, reducing the frequency of whipsaws in sideways markets.

Settings

Parameters

  • Fast EMA: Sets the length for the fast exponential moving average used in the MACD calculation (Default: 12).
  • Slow EMA: Sets the length for the slow exponential moving average used in the MACD calculation (Default: 26).
  • Signal SMA: Sets the smoothing length for the MACD signal line (Default: 9).
  • Min Crossover Distance (%): A percentage threshold that determines how strong a crossover must be relative to the price to trigger a signal. Higher values result in fewer, more significant signals.
