The Overlay Indicators (EMAs, SMAs, Ichimoku & Bollinger Bands) tool provides a comprehensive suite of popular technical analysis overlays designed for identifying dynamic support and resistance, trade targets, and trend strength within a single interface. By combining multiple moving averages with the Ichimoku Cloud and Bollinger Bands, the script allows traders to find high-probability confluence points and price targets across various asset classes, including cryptocurrency and traditional markets.

Usage

This script can be used to monitor trend direction and volatility across multiple timeframes. For example, traders can look for price interactions with the 200-period EMA for long-term trend confirmation or use the Bollinger Bands to identify overbought/oversold conditions. The inclusion of an optional weekend background marker is particularly useful for cryptocurrency traders to distinguish between standard trading days and weekend price action.

Details

The script integrates several core technical analysis concepts:

  • Exponential Moving Averages (EMA): Places more weight on recent price data to react faster to market changes.
  • Simple Moving Averages (SMA): Provides a smooth average of price over a set period, useful for established trend identification.
  • Ichimoku Cloud: A multi-component indicator providing support/resistance zones, trend direction, and momentum data. The default settings (20, 60, 120, 30) are optimized for the fast-paced nature of the crypto markets.
  • Bollinger Bands: Measures volatility by plotting standard deviations around a central SMA, assisting in price discovery and trend strength assessment.
