The Period Range Visualizer indicator provides a comprehensive visual overlay of higher-period market structure, including ranges, liquidity sweeps, and price projections directly on the current chart. This tool enables traders to monitor multi-timeframe price action, such as higher-period high/low boundaries and candle projections, without the need to switch timeframes.

Usage

The Usage section highlights how to leverage the visual elements for structural analysis. The tool automatically or manually overlays higher-period data onto your current chart.

  • Market Structure Identification: Use the colored range boxes (bullish/bearish) to identify the current bias of the higher timeframe. The tool automatically plots the high, low, and open levels of the active period.
  • Liquidity Sweep Detection: The indicator identifies when the current price sweeps the previous period's high or low. These are marked with labels, arrows, and optional candle coloring to highlight potential reversal zones.
  • Price Projections: The "Big Candle" projection visualizes the current period's development on the right side of the chart, while historical candle projections provide a look-back at previous period performance with weekday labels.
  • Auto-Alignment: When enabled, the script optimizes the higher-period based on your chart:
    • 1m chart → 15m period
    • 5m chart → 1h period
    • 15m chart → 4h period
    • 1h chart → 1D period

Details

The script is constructed to handle complex market structure visualizations by tracking period-specific data points. It utilizes a custom PeriodData type to manage objects like boxes, lines, and labels.

  • Coordinate Management: It uses bar-index and time-based coordinates to ensure historical boxes and projections remain accurate even as new bars form.
  • Extended Levels: To help with intra-period analysis, the script can extend the previous period's high and low lines into the current active session, serving as immediate support or resistance levels.
  • Tick-Based Offsets: Label positioning for bar changes and period identifiers uses tick-based offsets to maintain visual clarity across different asset classes.

FAQ

How can I change the timeframe being visualized?
You can either enable "Auto Timeframe Alignment" for automatic scaling or disable it and select a specific timeframe in the "Manual Period Timeframe" dropdown within the settings.

What do the sweep markers indicate?
A high sweep indicates price has moved above the previous period's high before retreating, while a low sweep indicates price has moved below the previous period's low, often signaling potential liquidity grabs.
