Ultimate MA + MFI
Feb 22, 2021

The Ultimate MA + MFI indicator is a trend-following tool that combines a customizable moving average with the Money Flow Index (MFI) to generate precise buy and sell signals based on momentum and trend reversals.
Usage
The Ultimate MA + MFI indicator is designed to identify entry points during trend reversals when volume momentum is favorable.
- Buy Signals: These occur when the moving average shifts from a downward trend to an upward trend (after at least three bars of declining values) while the Money Flow Index (MFI) crosses above the specified oversold threshold. This indicates a potential bullish reversal supported by positive money flow.
- Sell Signals: These are triggered when the Money Flow Index (MFI) crosses under the overbought threshold, suggesting that the asset may be overextended and due for a correction.
This tool is particularly useful for automated trading bots, such as 3commas, where the buy alert can trigger a deal start signal and the sell alert can close active positions at market price.
Details
The script utilizes two primary components for its logic:
- Moving Average Trend: Users can choose between four types of averages (SMA, EMA, WMA, and TEMA). The script identifies a "turnaround" by looking for a rising moving average that was previously declining for a minimum of three periods.
- Money Flow Index (MFI): Unlike standard RSI, the MFI incorporates volume to measure the intensity of money flowing in and out of an asset. The combination of price trend (MA) and volume momentum (MFI) aims to filter out weak trend changes that lack significant volume support.
Settings
