The Variety RSI w/ Fibonacci Auto Channel indicator provides a versatile momentum oscillator combined with dynamic Fibonacci-based volatility bands to identify trend reversals and overextended market conditions.

Usage

The script is used to identify trend changes and strength by observing the RSI's position relative to its Fibonacci Auto Channels. Users can select from six different signal crossing options, including crossovers of the signal line, the middle line, or specific Fibonacci levels (Levels 1 through 4).

Key visual cues include:

  • Bar and Fill Coloring: The indicator uses a gradient coloring system based on the signal strength.
  • Signals: When "Show signals" is enabled, "L" (Long) and "S" (Short) labels appear based on the selected crossover logic.
  • Dynamic Channels: The Fibonacci levels automatically adjust based on the highest and lowest RSI values over a user-defined lookback period.

Details

This tool integrates several advanced technical components:

  • RSI Variations: Includes 7 distinct RSI algorithms: RSX, Regular, Slow, Rapid, Harris, Cuttler, and Ehlers Smoothed.
  • Source Types: Features expanded source inputs, including Heikin-Ashi and smoothed Heikin-Ashi variations (AMA, T3, Kaufman) for cleaner data processing.
  • Fibonacci Auto Channel: The levels (defaulting to 0.236, 0.382, 0.618, and 0.764) are calculated relative to the range of the RSI within the specified Hilo period, creating a dynamic support and resistance structure for the oscillator.

Settings

Basic Settings

  • Heikin-Ashi Better Calculation Type: Selects the smoothing method for HA source types (AMA, T3, or Kaufman).
  • Source: Defines the price data input, including traditional and Heikin-Ashi derived sources.
  • Period: The lookback period for the RSI calculation.
  • RSI type: Choose between the 7 available RSI calculation methods.
  • Smooth Period: Period used for initial source smoothing.
  • Hilo Period: The lookback period used to determine the highest and lowest values for the Fibonacci Channel range.
  • RSI Smoothing Type: The moving average type used for smoothing the source (EMA, WMA, RMA, SMA, VWMA).

Fibonacci Levels Settings

  • Fib Level 1 - 4: Adjustable coefficients for the internal channel lines.

Signal Settings

  • Signal type: Determines which crossover event triggers a signal (Signal Line, Middle, or specific Fib Levels).

UI Options

  • Color bars?: Enables/disables price bar coloring based on indicator state.
  • Show signals?: Toggles the visibility of L/S shapes.
  • Show gradient fill?: Toggles the background gradient fill between Fibonacci levels.
