Volatility Traders Minds Strategy (VTM Strategy)
Jan 8, 2020

The Volatility Traders Minds Strategy (VTM Strategy) tool is a comprehensive trend-following trading system designed to identify high-probability entries by combining momentum, volatility, and trend filters.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify market entries based on four specific technical conditions. A long or short position is initiated when all following criteria are met:
- Trend Filter: Price must be above (for Longs) or below (for Shorts) the 48-period Moving Average.
- Mean Reversion/Breakout: Price must break and close above (for Longs) or below (for Shorts) the middle Bollinger Band (Basis).
- Momentum Confirmation: The MACD histogram (delta) must be positive for Longs or negative for Shorts.
- Volatility/Strength Filter: The Average Directional Index (ADX) must be above a specific threshold (default is 25) to ensure the market is trending strongly enough to support the move.
Details
This strategy integrates several classic technical analysis concepts into a unified systematic approach. The 48-period Moving Average serves as the primary trend filter, ensuring trades are only taken in the direction of the medium-term trend. The Bollinger Band Basis acts as a dynamic trigger point, signifying a shift in short-term price action. To avoid "whipsaws" in low-volatility environments, the ADX requirement ensures that the strategy only executes when there is sufficient trend strength. Finally, the MACD delta ensures that momentum is accelerating in the direction of the trade.

FAQ
How do I interpret the signals? Signals are generated when the price, MACD, and ADX all align. A buy signal occurs when price is above the MA and BB Basis while the MACD is positive and ADX is above 25.
Can I use this on any timeframe? While the VTM strategy is versatile, it is typically used on intraday or daily timeframes where trend strength (ADX) is more clearly defined.
How can I access the Volatility Traders Minds Strategy (VTM Strategy)? You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
