The ENVELOPE RSI - Buy Sell Signals indicator provides a specialized framework for identifying short-term reversal opportunities by combining Envelope price channels with Relative Strength Index (RSI) momentum filters.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify potential entry points based on the confluence of price action and momentum. The indicator generates visual labels on the chart when specific overbought or oversold conditions are met simultaneously by both price and the RSI oscillator.

  • Buy Signals: A buy signal is generated when the RSI is below the user-defined oversold threshold (e.g., 25) and price crosses from below to above the lower Envelope band.
  • Sell Signals: A sell signal is generated when the RSI is above the user-defined overbought threshold (e.g., 80) and price crosses from above to below the upper Envelope band.

This tool is optimized for lower timeframes, such as the 15-minute chart, where short-term mean reversion is more frequent. It also includes visual Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) zones based on percentage inputs to assist in trade management.

Details

The indicator functions by calculating a moving average basis (Simple or Exponential) and applying a percentage-based offset to create upper and lower bands. Simultaneously, it calculates a standard RSI based on the selected length and source.

The core logic requires price to interact with the Envelope boundaries while the RSI confirms an extreme momentum state. This dual-verification approach aims to filter out weak signals that might occur when only one of the two metrics reaches an extreme. For instance, price touching an envelope without RSI confirmation might indicate a strong trend rather than a reversal, whereas the confluence of both suggests a higher probability of a short-term correction.

Settings

Envelope Settings

  • Envelope Length: Sets the lookback period for the basis moving average.
  • Envelope Percent: Determines the distance of the upper and lower bands from the basis line.
  • Envelope Source: Selects the price data used for envelope calculations (e.g., Close, HL2).
  • Exponential: Toggles between a Simple Moving Average (SMA) and an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) for the basis.

RSI Settings

  • RSI Length: Sets the lookback period for the RSI calculation.
  • RSI Source: Selects the price data used for the RSI calculation.
  • RSI OverBought Limit: The threshold above which the instrument is considered overbought (Recommended: 70-85).
  • RSI OverSold Limit: The threshold below which the instrument is considered oversold (Recommended: 20-30).

TP & SL

  • TP %: Sets the percentage distance from the entry price for the visual Take Profit target.
  • SL %: Sets the percentage distance from the entry price for the visual Stop Loss level.

FAQ

How do I interpret the visual labels on the chart? Green "Buy" labels indicate price crossing above the lower envelope while RSI is oversold. Red "Sell" labels indicate price crossing below the upper envelope while RSI is overbought.

Can I use this indicator on daily or weekly timeframes? While designed for short-term trading (15m), the settings can be adjusted for higher timeframes; however, the Envelope Percent and RSI thresholds should be recalibrated to account for higher volatility.
