MoBo Bands - Momentum Breakout Indicator
Dec 28, 2025

The MoBo Bands - Momentum Breakout Indicator tool identifies volatility-based breakouts and potential momentum shifts using dynamic standard deviation bands.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to navigate market trends. Traders can monitor price action relative to the dynamic bands to determine the current momentum state.
- Bullish Breakout: A green arrow appears when the price closes above the upper band, signaling a shift toward upward momentum. The bands and fill zones will turn green to confirm the bullish state.
- Bearish Breakdown: A red arrow appears when the price closes below the lower band, signaling a shift toward downward momentum. The bands and fill zones will turn red to confirm the bearish state.
- Dynamic Support/Resistance: The bands act as moving boundaries; price staying within the green zone suggests trend continuation, while a move toward the opposite band may indicate exhaustion.
Details
The indicator calculates a central Simple Moving Average (SMA) and anchors upper and lower bands based on a user-defined standard deviation multiplier. Unlike standard Bollinger Bands, MoBo (Momentum Breakout) Bands are designed specifically to highlight "breakout" zones where momentum is confirmed. The script uses a recursive logic to maintain the color state of the bands until a counter-signal is triggered, reducing visual noise during minor price fluctuations within a trend.
