The VWAP Deviation Channels with Probability (Lite) indicator identifies high-probability areas of intraday support and resistance by combining Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) with dynamic statistical deviation bands and a real-time probability engine. It provides traders with quantifiable likelihoods of price reaching specific levels based on historical session data and momentum.

Usage

This tool is primarily used for Mean Reversion strategies on intraday timeframes (1m, 5m, 15m). Traders can observe how price interacts with the deviation bands to identify overextended conditions.

  • Identifying Extremes: When price reaches the outer deviation bands (+/- 3 or 4), it is statistically stretched from the mean (VWAP).
  • Probability Analysis: Each level displays a percentage. This value represents the historical probability of price touching that level given the previous candle's momentum (bullish or bearish).
  • Price Magnets: The level with the highest historical probability is highlighted, serving as a target or a zone where a reversal is statistically more likely.
  • Confirmation: Users should look for price action confirmation (e.g., engulfing candles or pin bars) at high-probability bands before anticipating a return to the VWAP midline.

Details

The indicator is constructed using three primary components:

  • VWAP Midline: Calculated using volume and price (hlc3) to establish the true average price for the current session.
  • Standard Deviation Channels: Four levels of channels plotted above and below the VWAP based on current session volatility. Narrow channels indicate a "squeeze" or low volatility, while wide channels indicate high volatility.
  • Conditional Probability Engine: The script maintains a state of "hit counts" for every deviation level. It categorizes these hits based on whether the preceding bar was bullish or bearish, allowing the engine to provide a nuanced probability estimate that adapts to immediate market sentiment.

VWAP Deviation Settings

  • Source for Deviation Calc: Determines the price source (e.g., close, hlc3) used to calculate the standard deviation from the VWAP.

Probability Label Settings

  • Show Probability Labels: Toggles the visibility of the percentage likelihood labels on the chart.
  • Label Text Size: Adjusts the size of the text displayed in the probability labels.
  • Show Midline Probability Label: Specifically toggles the label for the VWAP midline.
  • Default Label Color: Sets the color for standard probability labels.
  • Highlight Color (Above/Below Open): Defines the colors used to highlight the level with the highest probability, depending on the current price relative to the open.

How do I access VWAP Deviation Channels with Probability (Lite)?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Why doesn't the indicator show up on my Daily chart?

This indicator is designed specifically for intraday analysis. It relies on session-based VWAP and high-resolution bar data that does not translate to daily or weekly timeframes.

What does it mean when a probability label is highlighted?

A highlighted label indicates the specific deviation level (or midline) that has the highest historical probability of being touched during the current session based on the previous candle's color.
