The Super Regression Trend Matrix Scanner tool provides a multi-symbol watchlist dashboard that monitors trend states, volume expansion, and structural alignment across dozens of assets simultaneously. It streamlines swing-trading workflows by consolidating regression-based trend signals with momentum and moving average filters into a single visual matrix.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on how to interpret the matrix outputs to identify high-probability trading opportunities across a watchlist.

  • Identifying Trend Changes: The "Signal" column distinguishes between an existing trend and a fresh reversal. "BUY NOW" and "SELL NOW" indicate a new flip in the regression model and are highlighted in bright colors to prioritize immediate review.
  • Trend Strength Verification: Use the ADX column to filter out low-volatility environments. A reading of "OK" suggests the trend has sufficient strength (default > 15) to be considered valid for a swing trade.
  • Volume Participation: The "Vol" columns (1, 1.5, 1.8, 2) indicate how many standard deviations current volume is above the 20-period average. Aligning a fresh "BUY NOW" signal with a "Y" in the higher volume columns suggests institutional participation.
  • Structural Context: The EMA columns (E9 through E200) indicate if the price is above (+) or below (-) key moving averages. Traders should look for alignment where a bullish signal occurs while the price is also above long-term averages like the E100 or E200.
  • Momentum Confirmation: The RSI/SMA column shows if the RSI is above its smoothing average. This acts as a final momentum check to ensure the trend state is supported by internal price velocity.

Details

The script is built upon the regression-trend concept, utilizing a linear regression line combined with Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) to create adaptive bands.

  • Regression Engine: Trend changes are triggered when the price closes outside dynamic bands calculated from price deviation relative to the regression line.
  • Ranking Logic: To optimize workflow, the script pins the current chart symbol to the top of the matrix. Additionally, symbols experiencing fresh trend flips are automatically sorted higher in the list to surface new opportunities.
  • Multi-Symbol Processing: Using dynamic requests, the scanner evaluates up to 30 user-defined symbols. It processes technical data including DMI/ADX for strength, standard deviation for volume normalization, and multiple EMA lengths for structural analysis.
  • Attribution: This tool adapts the core logic of the open-source "Super Regression Trend" by Uncle_the_shooter into a scanner format.

Settings

Trend Engine

  • Regression Length: Sets the lookback period for the linear regression calculation.
  • RMSE Multiplier: Adjusts the width of the adaptive bands. Higher values require more significant price movement to trigger a trend flip.

Matrix

  • Position: Determines where the table is displayed on the chart.
  • Text Size: Adjusts the scale of the matrix text (Tiny, Small, Normal).
  • Volume Lookback: Defines the period used to calculate average volume and volume standard deviation.
  • ADX Length: The lookback period for the Average Directional Index.
  • ADX Acceptable Above: The threshold required for the ADX column to display an "OK" status.

RSI-SMA

  • RSI Length: The lookback period for the Relative Strength Index.
  • RSI SMA Length: The period for the moving average applied to the RSI for momentum filtering.

Symbols

  • Symbol 01-30: Input fields to define the specific tickers the matrix will scan.

FAQ

How do I interpret the difference between "BUY" and "BUY NOW"?
"BUY" indicates that the symbol is already in an established bullish trend according to the regression model. "BUY NOW" indicates that the trend has flipped from bearish to bullish on the current bar.

Can I use this scanner on any timeframe?
Yes, the scanner adapts to the timeframe of the chart it is loaded on. It is specifically optimized for daily and weekly timeframes to assist in swing-trading analysis.
