The Algo Market Structure (Nephew_Sam_) indicator provides a rule-based framework for identifying market structure by analyzing bullish and bearish candle sequences rather than traditional pivot highs and lows. It maps out sophisticated price action concepts like inducements, liquidity levels, and valid trading ranges to help traders identify structural shifts and potential entry zones.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret price action through its specific structural logic.

Structural Logic

Unlike the standard pivot method (which looks for the highest/lowest point in an X-candle window), this tool defines structure based on candle sentiment:

  • Structure High: Formed by one or more consecutive bullish candles followed by a bearish candle.
  • Structure Low: Formed by one or more consecutive bearish candles followed by a bullish candle.
  • Structure Direction: A shift in market direction is identified when the second previous high or low is breached (TLQ).

Key Price Action Features

  • ILQ (Inducement Liquidity): In a bearish trend, this identifies the most recent structure high. It represents an area where internal liquidity is often taken before a continuation.
  • TLQ (Trend Liquidity): This represents the second most recent structure high (in a bearish trend). Breaking this level signals a Change of Character (CHoCH) or structural shift.
  • EPA (Efficient Price Action): Marks levels where price returns to a previous structural point after a Break of Structure (BOS), functioning similarly to a breaker block.
  • VTA (Valid Trading Range): Plots boxes defining high-probability trading ranges based on specific patterns (e.g., HH-LL-HH for bullish VTA).

Multi-Timeframe Usage

The indicator allows users to display structure from a higher timeframe on the current chart. It is recommended to keep the indicator timeframe relatively close to the chart timeframe to avoid performance issues.

Details

The script executes its logic by tracking sequences of candle colors to define "Algo Highs" and "Algo Lows." This methodology filters out minor noise that traditional fixed-period pivots might catch.

  • Extreme Zones: The script identifies the wick of the TLQ candle as the "Extreme Zone," representing the final point of interest before a structural shift occurs.
  • MSU (Market Structure Update): Visual arrows appear at the bottom of the chart when price resides between the ILQ and TLQ levels, indicating a phase of price discovery.
  • Statistics Table: A real-time dashboard summarizes the current trend (bullish/bearish), price efficiency (EPA), MSU status, and whether price is currently within a VTA.

FAQ

How do I use the bar coloring feature correctly?

To ensure bar colors are visible, right-click the indicator on your chart, navigate to "Visual Order," and select "Bring to Front."

Why am I seeing a timeout error?

This typically happens if the "Timeframe 1" setting is significantly higher than the chart timeframe (e.g., Daily structure on a 1-minute chart). Adjust the "Min" setting or use a closer timeframe.
