L1 Proximal Filter [MTF & Alerts] Maxxed Edition
Feb 14, 2026

The L1 Proximal Filter [MTF & Alerts] Maxxed Edition indicator is a sophisticated trend-following tool that utilizes L1 soft-thresholding to isolate meaningful price action from market noise while incorporating multi-timeframe alignment.
Usage
The indicator is designed to identify high-probability trend entries by filtering out minor price fluctuations. It can be used as a standalone trend indicator or as a comprehensive trading system with built-in entry and exit logic.
- Trend Identification: Use the color of the filter line and background to identify the current market bias. A green line indicates a bullish trend, while a red line indicates a bearish trend.
- MTF Confirmation: When the Higher Timeframe (HTF) setting is enabled, signals only trigger when both the current chart and the higher timeframe are aligned. This helps traders stay on the right side of the dominant market trend.
- Entry Signals:
- Long Entries (↑): Occur when the lower timeframe flips bullish while the HTF is already bullish, or when the HTF flips bullish to match an existing bullish LTF trend.
- Short Entries (↓): Occur when the lower timeframe flips bearish while the HTF is already bearish, or when the HTF flips bearish to match an existing bearish LTF trend.
- Smart Exit Signals (Solid Circles): If HTF confirmation is active, the tool issues "Close" signals when the LTF trend diverges from the HTF trend. For example, a "Close Long" fires if the LTF turns bearish while the HTF remains bullish, allowing for early profit protection.
Details
The core logic utilizes an L1 Proximal Filter, which differs from standard moving averages by employing a "Soft-Thresholding" mechanism. This approach predicts the next state based on current velocity and applies an ATR-based threshold to determine if a price move is significant enough to warrant a filter change.
- Calculation Cycle: The script calculates a dynamic noise threshold (200-period ATR * Multiplier), predicts the next state, and blends it with incoming data using the Adaptation Rate (μ).
- Noise Suppression: If the difference between the new price data and the previous state is within the threshold, the filter remains flat. Only movements exceeding the threshold cause the filter to "step" to a new value.
- Visuals: The indicator features step-line plots for both timeframes, shaded fills between price and the filter, and customizable background colors to provide immediate visual context of market conditions.
Settings
Main Settings
- Source: The price data used for the filter calculation.
- ATR Multiplier: Determines the noise threshold. Higher values result in a smoother, more "stepped" filter that ignores more volatility.
- Adaptation Rate (μ): Controls how aggressively the filter reacts to price changes once the threshold is exceeded.
- Higher Timeframe Confirmation: Allows users to select a specific timeframe (e.g., 60 for 1H) to provide trend alignment.
Visual Settings
- Show Higher Timeframe Filter Line: Toggles the visibility of the HTF step line.
- Show Background Trend Color: Toggles the background coloring based on the current trend.
- Background Transparency: Adjusts the opacity of the trend background.
- Colors: Customizable colors for bullish and bearish states.
