The RSI Weighted Trend System I indicator is a comprehensive trend identification tool that dynamically combines slow-moving and fast-moving technical indicators. By using a Relative Strength Index (RSI) weighting mechanism, the script adjusts its sensitivity to market volatility, providing stable trend guidance during consolidations and rapid response during potential turning points.

Usage

The indicator aggregates multiple technical studies into a single weighted signal. It classifies indicators into two categories: Slow (DMI, CCI, Aroon) for long-term trend stability and Fast (ZLEMA, IIRF) for capturing momentum shifts.

The core functionality revolves around the RSI-based weight:

  • Trend Identification: When RSI values are neutral, the system relies on slow-moving indicators to confirm the prevailing trend.
  • Momentum Shifts: As RSI moves toward extremes (positive or negative), the system increases the weight of "Fast" indicators to capture potential reversals or breakouts.
  • Weighting Logic: If the RSI absolute value is below the user-defined threshold, "Fast" indicators receive no weight. Setting this threshold to zero enables a continuous weighting system for more aggressive signal generation.

Details

The system employs a "for-loop" method for calculating every sub-indicator, which generates a moving average of the trend across a specific length range rather than a single fixed period. To facilitate the weighting logic, the RSI is normalized from its standard 0-100 scale to a -1 to +1 range.

The final output is a weighted average signal: Signal = ((Slow Indicators * Slow Weight) + (Fast Indicators * Fast Weight)) / Total Weight

The script also includes a Calibration Mode to isolate and tune individual components (e.g., just the DMI or ZLEMA) and a Backtest Mode to evaluate performance metrics like Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, and Omega Ratio against a Buy & Hold benchmark.

FAQ

How do I access RSI Weighted Trend System I?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

What is the difference between Threshold-Based and Continuous Weighting?

Threshold-based weighting only activates fast indicators when momentum is strong (high RSI), whereas continuous weighting (threshold set to 0) always includes them, which may lead to more signals in choppy markets.

Can I use this for automated alerts?

Yes, the indicator supports alerts for both long and short signals when the primary trend direction flips.
