Dashboard

The EPS Dashboard tool provides a visual summary of a stock's earnings per share over the last year, helping traders identify companies with strong financial growth.

Usage

The EPS Dashboard is primarily used to monitor the fundamental health of a security by tracking its earnings momentum. It is particularly useful for momentum investors who follow the CAN SLIM methodology or IBD-style trading, where high earnings growth is a prerequisite for "super-performer" stocks.

The dashboard displays:

  • Historical EPS: Individual cells showing the EPS value for the current quarter and several preceding quarters (up to one year back).
  • Quarterly Average: A calculated average of the percentage performance across recent quarters.
  • YOY Change: The percentage change in earnings per share compared to the same quarter from the previous year.

Note: This indicator requires financial data to function. It will not display information for symbols without standardized financial reporting, such as cryptocurrencies, most indexes, or ETFs.

Details

The script utilizes the request.financial() function to fetch quarterly earnings data. It then calculates Year-over-Year (YOY) growth and average performance to provide a more comprehensive view of the earnings trend than a single data point would offer.

The dashboard includes dynamic transparency based on the magnitude of the values:

  • EPS Cells: Transparency levels adjust based on the absolute value of the EPS ($3+, $1+, or less).
  • Comparison Cells: Transparency levels adjust based on the percentage change (>60%, >20%, or less), allowing users to visually identify significant growth or contraction immediately.

Settings

  • Positive Color: Sets the color used for positive EPS values and growth percentages.
  • Negative Color: Sets the color used for negative EPS values and growth percentages.

FAQ

How do I use this for stock screening?

You can look for stocks showing accelerating "YOY Change" and a high "QTRLY AVERAGE." Strong, positive percentages in these fields often precede significant price moves in growth stocks.

Why is the table empty on my chart?

The table requires financial data. Ensure you are viewing a stock or an equity that reports quarterly earnings. It will not work on Bitcoin, Gold, or the S&P 500 Index.
