The MACD-RSI Millions indicator combines trend-following momentum and relative strength to identify high-confluence market entries and exits. By integrating the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and the Relative Strength Index (RSI), this tool helps traders visualize trend direction, strength, and duration while filtering for volatility.

Usage

The indicator can be used to confirm trend direction and momentum shifts through the confluence of two primary oscillators.

  • Bullish Signal: Occurs when the MACD line is above the Signal line and the RSI is above its 50 level. In this state, the indicator components and background typically highlight green, suggesting upward momentum.
  • Bearish Signal: Occurs when the MACD line is below the Signal line and the RSI is below its 50 level. In this state, the indicator components and background highlight red, suggesting downward momentum.
  • Neutral State: If the MACD and RSI are not in agreement, the indicator remains neutral, helping traders avoid low-probability setups during periods of indecision.

Details

The script functions by calculating a standard MACD (the difference between two moving averages) and a smoothed Signal line. Simultaneously, it calculates the RSI, which is then scaled to align with the MACD's visual range.

The core logic relies on "Relative Strength" and "Momentum Confluence." While the MACD measures the relationship between two moving averages of price, the RSI measures the speed and change of price movements. By requiring both to align (e.g., RSI > 50 for bullishness), the tool filters out weak MACD crossovers that occur in bearish territory.

Settings

  • Source: Determines the price data used for all calculations (default is Close).
  • MACD Fast Length: The period for the shorter moving average used in MACD calculation.
  • MACD Slow Length: The period for the longer moving average used in MACD calculation.
  • MACD Signal Smoothing: The period used to smooth the MACD line to create the Signal line.
  • Simple MA (Oscillator): Toggle to use a Simple Moving Average instead of an Exponential Moving Average for the MACD lines.
  • Simple MA (Signal Line): Toggle to use a Simple Moving Average for the Signal line smoothing.
  • RSI Length: The period used for the Relative Strength Index calculation.

FAQ

How do I interpret the colored background fills? The background fills indicate active confluence. A green fill represents a bullish environment where both MACD and RSI are positive, while a red fill represents a bearish environment where both are negative.

Can I change the moving average types? Yes, the settings menu allows you to switch between EMA and SMA for both the MACD oscillator and the Signal line to better fit your specific trading strategy.
