Ultimate Market Structure
Jul 18, 2025

The Ultimate Market Structure indicator is a comprehensive analysis tool designed to identify high-probability trading opportunities by combining advanced swing point detection, imbalance zone identification, and intelligent break analysis. It utilizes a sophisticated trend scoring system to classify market conditions and provide clear signals for structure breaks and institutional fair value gaps.
Usage
The tool can be used to map out the current market narrative by identifying key structural pivots and zones where price is likely to react.
- Swing Point Identification: The script automatically labels Higher Highs (HH), Lower Highs (LH), Higher Lows (HL), and Lower Lows (LL). This helps in determining the current trend direction and potential reversal points.
- Structure Breaks: It identifies Break of Structure (BOS) for trend continuation and Directional Change (DC) for potential reversals. These are marked on the chart with dashed lines and labels.
- Imbalance Analysis: Fair Value Gaps (FVGs) are highlighted as semi-transparent boxes. These zones act as magnets for price and can be used for entry or target placement.
- Trend Confidence: Users can gauge the strength of a move using the momentum and confidence scoring, which filters out minor noise and focuses on significant structural shifts.
Details
The indicator calculates momentum and strength by using volatility-normalized price changes and multi-timeframe correlation. Structure points are assigned a significance level on a 1–5 scale based on their distance from previous pivots, prioritizing major levels over minor fluctuations.
Imbalance detection tracks gaps between consecutive candles. The system includes partial mitigation tracking, where zones are adjusted or removed as price fills the unfilled orders within the gap. To maintain chart performance, the indicator features an automatic cleanup system that manages recent structure points and break events.
Settings

- Min Swing Distance %: Filters out small price movements to identify more significant structure points.
- Use Closes for Market Structure: When enabled, the indicator uses candle closes instead of wicks to determine breaks and pivots.
Imbalance Zones
- Show Imbalance Zones: Toggles the display of Fair Value Gaps.
- Central Point Mitigation: If enabled, a zone is considered mitigated when price touches its center line rather than just the edge.
- Preserve Filled Zones: Keeps filled imbalance zones on the chart for historical reference.
- FVG Extension Length: Determines how many bars into the future the imbalance zones are extended.
Structure Analysis
- Show Break of Structure (BOS): Toggles labels for trend continuation breaks.
- Show Directional Change (DC): Toggles labels for trend reversal breaks.
- Structure Analysis Period: Adjusts the lookback used for calculating momentum and trend strength.
FAQ
How do I interpret the significance levels? Levels 1–5 indicate the importance of a swing point based on its relative distance and price action. Level 5 represents a high-significance pivot, while Level 1 represents a minor structural point.
What is the difference between BOS and DC? BOS (Break of Structure) occurs when price breaks a level in the direction of the current trend, signaling continuation. DC (Directional Change) occurs when price breaks a level against the current trend, signaling a potential reversal.
