Activity and Volume Orderflow Profile
Jun 18, 2024

The Activity and Volume Orderflow Profile indicator visualizes buying and selling pressure within a specified lookback period to help traders identify key levels of market activity.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret market dynamics. Traders can utilize the profile to identify areas of significant buying or selling pressure.
- Comparison Mode: Displays buy and sell volumes side-by-side as separate boxes. This allows for a direct visual comparison of which side is dominant at specific price levels.
- Net Order Flow Mode: Displays the difference between buying and selling volume. This is useful for spotting net imbalances in the market.
- Activity Heatmap: Highlights zones of high activity directly on the chart over the lookback period. These zones often act as support or resistance levels where price is likely to react.
- Point of Control (POC): The indicator identifies the price level with the highest total volume, serving as a significant reference point for current market value.
Details
The indicator operates by gathering high, low, and volume data over a user-defined lookback period. It segments the price range between the period's maximum and minimum into "bins" or buckets based on the selected resolution. For each bin, the script calculates the volume associated with "up" candles (buy volume) and "down" candles (sell volume).
The heatmap functionality uses the relative volume of each bin to determine transparency; bins with higher relative volume are more opaque, making high-activity zones visually distinct.
