The Blockchain Fundamentals - MCCD - Miner Capitulation Conv/Div indicator provides a comprehensive view of Bitcoin miner activity by analyzing hashrate moving averages to identify periods of miner capitulation and recovery. This tool helps traders understand network health and potential market cycle bottoms by visualizing the relationship between short-term and long-term hashrate trends.

Usage

The indicator primarily functions by tracking the 30-day and 60-day moving averages of the Bitcoin network hashrate. When the 30-day MA crosses below the 60-day MA, it signals a period of "Miner Capitulation," often occurring when mining becomes unprofitable. Conversely, a cross back above indicates "Recovery."

Users can customize the visual output to suit their analysis style:

  • Hashrate Ribbons: View the 30 and 60 MAs directly to spot crosses.
  • Convergence/Divergence: Enable a histogram or column view (similar to a MACD) to see the spread between the two averages.
  • Visual Signals: The script can highlight the background during capitulation phases and plot specific "Recovery" or "Capitulation" shapes on the chart.
  • Bar Coloring: Change the candle colors based on whether the network is currently in a state of capitulation or growth.

Details

This tool utilizes request.security to fetch on-chain data, specifically the Bitcoin difficulty and hashrate from external data sources. By applying moving averages to this data, the script replicates the "Hash Ribbons" concept. The Convergence/Divergence (MCCD) aspect adds a layer of momentum analysis to the on-chain data, allowing users to see if the hashrate is beginning to recover before the actual moving average crossover occurs.

Settings

FAQ

How do I access the Blockchain Fundamentals - MCCD - Miner Capitulation Conv/Div?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Can I use this on assets other than Bitcoin?

Since the script fetches specific Bitcoin network data (hashrate and difficulty), it is designed specifically for Bitcoin (BTC) analysis and will not provide relevant data for non-minable assets or other blockchains.

What is the significance of the "Recovery" signal?

The "Recovery" signal occurs when the 30-day hashrate moving average crosses back above the 60-day average. Historically, this has been viewed by many analysts as a potential signal for the end of a bearish cycle or a period of miner distress.
