Multi-timeframe Moving Average Overlay w/ Sentiment Table
Apr 12, 2025

The Multi-timeframe Moving Average Overlay w/ Sentiment Table indicator provides a comprehensive visualization of trend alignment across multiple periodicities by overlaying moving averages from six different timeframes and summarizing their relationship in a dynamic sentiment dashboard.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to identify trend confluence and momentum. Traders can use this tool to determine if short-term price action is aligned with higher-timeframe trends.
- Trend Confirmation: When the sentiment table shows "↑↑↑" across multiple zones (Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly), it indicates a strong bullish trend alignment where short-term moving averages are stacked above long-term ones.
- Momentum Filtering: Users can filter out counter-trend trades by only looking for entries when the sentiment table matches the desired trade direction.
- Dynamic Support/Resistance: The overlaid MA lines from 1-minute to 1-month timeframes act as visual support or resistance levels directly on the current chart.
- Alerting: The script can trigger alerts when a specific timeframe block reaches maximum bullish (↑↑↑) or bearish (↓↓↓) intensity, assisting in timing entries during momentum breakouts.
Details
The script calculates moving averages for 1-minute, 5-minute, 1-hour, 1-day, 1-week, and 1-month timeframes using the request.security function with lookahead_on to ensure data consistency across resolutions.
Sentiment is determined by "MA stacking" rather than simple crossovers. For example, Hourly sentiment is calculated by comparing the relative positions of the 1m, 5m, and 1H moving averages. The tool supports seven calculation methods: SMA, EMA, DEMA (Double EMA), TEMA (Triple EMA), WMA, VWMA, and HMA. The "Line Fades" feature provides a visual gradient (fill) between the price and the MA to highlight the magnitude of the current deviation.
Settings
- MA Type: Selects the calculation method (EMA, SMA, DEMA, TEMA, WMA, VWMA, or HMA).

FAQ
How is sentiment calculated in the table? Sentiment is based on the stacking order of three moving averages for each zone. Triple arrows (↑↑↑/↓↓↓) indicate perfect bullish or bearish stacking, while single or double arrows indicate moderate or weak alignment.
Why do the 1m or 5m lines look static on higher timeframes? TradingView limits the resolution of lower timeframe data when viewed on much higher timeframes. This is a platform limitation regarding how data is requested and displayed.
