ICT IPDA Look Back
Oct 22, 2022

The ICT IPDA Look Back tool automatically calculates and identifies the Interbank Price Delivery Algorithm (IPDA) time intervals (20, 40, and 60 days) and their respective discount, equilibrium, and premium zones. This indicator provides traders with immediate visual feedback on institutional look-back ranges, helping to identify potential points of interest and current market conditions.
Usage
The tool can be utilized by both intraday and swing traders to gauge price positioning relative to historical ranges.
- Intraday Trading: Traders can focus on the IPDA 20-Day Look Back box to observe internal imbalances and liquidity pools within the most recent institutional cycle.
- Swing/Trend Trading: The 40 and 60-Day Look Back boxes offer a broader perspective on market regime, indicating whether the current price is in a premium or discount relative to medium-term institutional references.
- Plot Formats: Users can choose between "Boxes" (visual ranges on chart), "Table A" (text-based Premium/Discount status), or "Table B" (percentage distance from equilibrium).
Details
IPDA refers to the Interbank Price Delivery Algorithm, a concept suggesting that institutional price delivery references specific historical look-back periods—specifically 20, 40, and 60 days—to define trading ranges and PD arrays. The indicator calculates the highest high and lowest low of these periods to establish:
- Premium: The upper half of the range (above equilibrium).
- Equilibrium: The 50% retracement level of the look-back range.
- Discount: The lower half of the range (below equilibrium).
The script includes multiple calculation modes, allowing users to view classic Daily IPDA ranges on lower timeframes or apply the look-back logic directly to the current chart's timeframe.
Settings
- Alerts?: Enables notifications when price crosses the High, Low, or Equilibrium of the active IPDA ranges.

- Show Text: Toggles the visibility of labels on the boxes.
- Discount/Equilibrium/Premium Colors: Customizes the colors for the different range zones.
- IPDA Intervals (20/40/60): Toggles individual look-back periods on or off.

- CLASSIC: Standard daily ranges visible only on the 1D timeframe.
- CLASSIC+LTF: Plots daily ranges regardless of the current chart timeframe.
- LTF: Plots the look-back based on the bars of the current timeframe (e.g., last 20 bars on a 1H chart).
