The SuperTrend Cloud Strategy indicator is a dual-layered trend-following tool designed to improve trade accuracy by filtering market noise through a volatility-based cloud structure.

Usage

The SuperTrend Cloud Strategy can be used to identify trend direction and potential entry/exit points by observing the relationship between price action and two distinct SuperTrend lines.

  • Trend Identification: When the price is above both SuperTrend lines, a bullish trend is confirmed. Conversely, when the price is below both lines, a bearish trend is indicated.
  • Entry Signals: Long positions are initiated when price crosses over one SuperTrend line while remaining above the other. Short positions are triggered when price crosses under one line while remaining below the other.
  • Exit Strategy: Users can toggle the "Exit on complete cross" setting. If disabled, the strategy exits positions when the price enters the "cloud" area (the space between the two lines). If enabled, a full crossing of the cloud is required to trigger an exit.

Details

This strategy utilizes two SuperTrend calculations with different multipliers and periods to create a dynamic "cloud." The concept is based on the idea that standard SuperTrend signals can be prone to whipsaws during high oscillation or sideways price action. By requiring agreement between two different volatility-adjusted thresholds, the strategy aims to filter out lower-probability signals. The script calculates the upper and lower levels based on the Average True Range (ATR) and Mid-Price (HL2), ensuring that the cloud adapts to changing market volatility.

Settings

  • Exit on complete cross of cloud only?: Determines if a position should close immediately upon entering the cloud or only after a complete cross through the cloud.
  • Multiplier 1: The volatility multiplier for the first SuperTrend calculation.
  • Period 1: The ATR lookback period for the first SuperTrend calculation.
  • Multiplier 2: The volatility multiplier for the second SuperTrend calculation.
  • Period 2: The ATR lookback period for the second SuperTrend calculation.
  • Date Range (From/To): Filters the historical data used for the strategy backtest by day, month, and year.
