SuperTrend Multi Time Frame with Alerts V.1
Feb 12, 2018

The SuperTrend Multi Time Frame with Alerts V.1 indicator provides a comprehensive view of market trends across multiple timeframes simultaneously, helping traders identify trend confluence and potential reversal points.
Usage
The Usage section focuses on interpreting the various SuperTrend levels plotted on the chart. By default, the script displays the SuperTrend for the current timeframe alongside the 5-minute, 1-hour, and Daily timeframes.
- Trend Confluence: When multiple timeframes show the same color (e.g., all green), it indicates a strong bullish trend across different scales.
- Support/Resistance: The plotted lines act as dynamic support and resistance levels. Price bouncing off a higher timeframe SuperTrend line (like the Daily) can be a significant signal.
- Alerts: Users can set independent long and short alerts for each timeframe (Current, 5m, 1h, and Daily) to be notified immediately when a trend change occurs on a specific scale.
Details
This tool utilizes the request.security function to fetch trend data from different timeframes. The core calculation is based on the standard SuperTrend logic, which uses the Average True Range (ATR) multiplied by a factor to determine distance from price.
- Logic: The indicator calculates a basic upper and lower band. The "Trailing Stop" level (tsl) stays below the price during an uptrend and above the price during a downtrend, shifting only when the closing price crosses the previous stop level.
- Multi-Timeframe Integration: By centralizing the 5m, 60m, and Daily calculations, the script eliminates the need to switch tabs or load multiple indicators to see the "big picture."
Settings
- Factor: The multiplier applied to the ATR. Increasing this value makes the indicator less sensitive to price fluctuations (slower), while decreasing it makes it more sensitive (faster).
- Period: The lookback period used for the ATR calculation. A higher period smoothens the ATR value over a longer window.
FAQ
How do I use the multi-timeframe lines?
The lines are color-coded based on the trend of their respective timeframes. Green indicates a bullish trend, while red indicates a bearish trend. Thicker lines are used for higher timeframes (1H and Daily) to differentiate them from the lower timeframes.
Can I set alerts for just one specific timeframe?
Yes, the indicator includes separate alert conditions for the Current timeframe, 5m, 1H, and Daily. You can select the specific alert you want in the TradingView alert creation menu.
