NVT Dynamic Colored with Signals
Oct 15, 2019

The NVT Dynamic Colored with Signals indicator provides a specialized view of Bitcoin's valuation by comparing network value to transaction volume through a dynamic lens to identify potential market tops and bottoms.
Usage
The tool is primarily used to identify overbought or oversold conditions based on the Network Value to Transactions (NVT) ratio. Because market dynamics change as an asset matures, this version uses dynamic bands rather than static levels.
- Buy Opportunity: When the NVT line turns green and enters the lower dynamic band area, it suggests the network is undervalued relative to its transaction volume.
- Sell Opportunity: When the NVT line turns red and enters the upper dynamic band area, it suggests the network may be overvalued.
- Neutral State: A yellow line indicates the NVT ratio is in a transitional or neutral zone between the primary dynamic bands.
Details
The NVT ratio is calculated as the Network Value (Market Cap) divided by the Daily Transaction Volume. In this specific implementation, the volume is smoothed using a Simple Moving Average (SMA) to reduce noise.
Standard NVT models often use fixed thresholds, which can become obsolete as Bitcoin evolves. This script addresses that by applying moving averages and multipliers to the NVT ratio itself to create "Green" (support) and "Red" (resistance) zones that adapt to historical price and volume action over time.
Settings
- MA Volume: Sets the length for the moving average applied to the transaction volume.
- Green Top: The period for the moving average used to calculate the upper boundary of the green "buy" zone.
- Green Top Mul: A multiplier used to adjust the sensitivity of the green zone levels.
- Red Bottom: The period for the moving average used to calculate the lower boundary of the red "sell" zone.
- Red Bottom Mul: A multiplier used to adjust the sensitivity of the red zone levels.
FAQ
How do I interpret the colored signals?
The colors are automated triggers: green indicates a potential accumulation phase (undervalued), while red indicates a potential distribution phase (overvalued).
Does this work for all cryptocurrencies?
This script specifically pulls data for Bitcoin's Market Cap and Transaction Volume from external sources (Quandl/BCHAIN). It is designed specifically for Bitcoin analysis.
