Multi Moving Average with Customization
May 18, 2025

The Multi Moving Average with Customization indicator provides a comprehensive toolkit for plotting up to five independent moving averages with multi-timeframe support and advanced trend visualization features. It allows traders to consolidate multiple trend-following tools into a single interface, featuring automated crossover detection and customizable cloud regions for clearer trend identification.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to improve chart clarity and trend analysis. Users can enable and configure five distinct moving averages, each with its own length, source, and timeframe settings.
- Multi-Timeframe Analysis: By setting a specific timeframe for an individual MA, you can view higher timeframe trends (such as a Daily 200 EMA) directly on lower timeframe charts (like the 15-minute chart).
- MA Cloud: This feature allows you to select any two active moving averages to create a filled area between them. The cloud color changes dynamically based on the relationship between the two lines, highlighting bullish or bearish sentiment.
- Crossover Identification: The tool can automatically mark "Golden Cross" and "Death Cross" events. You define the short and long periods, and the script plots shapes on the chart when these significant trend shifts occur.
- Trend Background: Users can enable a background coloring feature that tints the chart based on the price position relative to a specific Trend MA, providing an immediate visual cue of the current market regime.
- Alerting: The indicator supports alerts for price crossings relative to any of the selected moving averages, which is useful for monitoring key support or resistance levels.
Details
The script utilizes a modular architecture to handle multiple calculations efficiently. It employs request.security to fetch multi-timeframe data and includes a "Line Style" toggle to choose between continuous lines or "True Gaps," which prevents the distortion of higher timeframe data on lower intervals. The MA types (SMA, EMA, WMA) are managed through a switch statement, ensuring the calculation logic remains consistent across all five slots. The cloud visualization uses string identifiers to map user inputs to specific plot variables, allowing for flexible combinations of any two MAs.

FAQ
How can I view a Daily MA on a 1-hour chart? In the settings for any MA slot (e.g., MA 1), set the "Timeframe" input to "1D". Ensure the "Enable" checkbox is checked.
Can I use different MA types for different lines? The current version uses a global "Moving Average Type" setting for all active lines to maintain consistency in trend analysis.
