Swing Data - ADR% / RVol / PVol / Float % / Avg $ Vol
Apr 24, 2023

The Swing Data - ADR% / RVol / PVol / Float % / Avg $ Vol indicator provides a consolidated dashboard of essential fundamental and technical metrics designed to help swing traders assess stock volatility, liquidity, and volume dynamics at a glance.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret market data through its visual table. Traders can use this tool to filter for high-conviction setups based on specific criteria like relative volume surges or low float volatility.
- Volatility Assessment: Use the ADR% (Average Daily Range) and ATR to determine if a stock has enough "room to move" for your profit targets. A higher ADR% suggests greater potential intraday or swing price swings.
- Volume Analysis: The RVol (Relative Volume) and Projected Volume help identify if a move is being backed by institutional interest. Values significantly above 100% indicate unusual activity.
- Liquidity Monitoring: Refer to Avg $ Volume to ensure the asset has enough liquidity to enter and exit positions without significant slippage.
- Price Positioning: The LoD dist. (Distance from Low of Day) and 52-Week High/Low distances help identify where the current price sits within its historical and daily ranges.
Details
The script calculates several complex metrics to provide a comprehensive market overview:
- ADR% (Average Daily Range): Calculates the average percentage difference between daily highs and lows over a set period, providing a "volatility footprint" that excludes price gaps.
- Relative Volume (RVol): Compares the current volume to a 50-period Simple Moving Average (SMA). A value of 100% means volume is exactly at the average.
- Float %: Derived from the company's outstanding shares available for public trading. Lower float percentages often correlate with higher price volatility due to supply constraints.
- Projected Volume: An estimation of where the day's volume will end based on the current rate of accumulation relative to the elapsed time in the trading session.
- RS Rating: A comparative strength measure that evaluates the performance of the ticker against a benchmark (like the SPX) over multiple lookback periods (63, 126, 189, and 252 days).

FAQ
How do I interpret a high Relative Volume (RVol)? A high RVol (e.g., > 200%) indicates that the stock is trading twice its usual volume, which often precedes significant price breakouts or trend reversals.
What is the difference between ADR% and ATR? ADR% measures the daily range as a percentage of the price, making it easy to compare volatility across different stocks, whereas ATR measures volatility in absolute dollar terms.
