10/20 MA Cross-Over with Heikin-Ashi Signals
May 25, 2019

The 10/20 MA Cross-Over with Heikin-Ashi Signals indicator identifies trend shifts by combining moving average crossovers with Heikin-Ashi candle state changes to filter market noise.
Usage
The tool is designed to identify momentum in trending markets, particularly effective on daily timeframes or assets reaching new highs. It plots two simple moving averages (SMAs) and overlays signals based on Heikin-Ashi calculations without changing the chart's native candle style.
Long Entry Conditions:
- A bullish signal (green circle) appears below the price bar, indicating the Heikin-Ashi state has turned green.
- The 10-period MA (green line) is positioned above the 20-period MA (red line).
- Price has recently moved above the 10-period MA.
Short Entry Conditions:
- A bearish signal (red square) appears above the price bar, indicating the Heikin-Ashi state has turned red.
- The 20-period MA (red line) is positioned above the 10-period MA (green line).
- Price has recently moved below the 10-period MA.
Exit Strategy: Users typically cover or close positions when any of the entry conditions for the current trend are no longer met to protect profits from potential reversals or choppy price action.
Details
This script calculates Heikin-Ashi (HA) values internally to determine color changes (green for bullish, red for bearish). By using an internal calculation rather than changing the chart type, it allows traders to keep their regular candlestick price action visible. The crossover logic between the 10 and 20 SMAs serves as a primary trend filter, while the HA signals act as refined entry and exit triggers.
Settings
- MA 10 Length: Sets the period for the faster simple moving average (default is 10).
- MA 20 Length: Sets the period for the slower simple moving average (default is 20).
