Market Structure Shift (MSS) w/Multi Time Frame Tables
Dec 8, 2025

The Market Structure Shift (MSS) indicator provides a clean and automated way to identify potential changes in market direction by detecting breaks in significant swing highs and swing lows. By filtering for the most recent structure shifts, it helps traders focus on relevant price action while maintaining a clutter-free chart environment.
Usage
The tool can be used to spot trend reversals or continuations across various timeframes. A Bullish MSS is plotted when the price breaks above a previous swing high, suggesting a potential shift to an uptrend. Conversely, a Bearish MSS is plotted when the price breaks below a previous swing low, indicating a potential downtrend.
Traders can use the indicator for:
- Trend Identification: Recognizing the start of a new trend after a structure break.
- Entry Confirmation: Waiting for an MSS before entering a trade on a pullback to the broken level.
- Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Using the integrated MTF table to see the MSS status across up to 10 different timeframes simultaneously.
Details
The script utilizes pivot detection logic to identify swing highs and lows based on the user-defined left and right bar counts. Once a pivot is established, the indicator monitors price action for a breach of that level. To prevent signal noise, the script includes smart filtering that only allows one MSS per direction consecutively; a new bullish MSS will not plot until a bearish one has occurred, and vice versa.

FAQ
How do I access the Market Structure Shift (MSS) indicator?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
What is the difference between a "Close" and "Wick" confirmation?
A "Close" confirmation requires the candle body to close past the swing level, which is often considered more conservative. A "Wick" confirmation triggers as soon as the price touches past the level.
Why did an old MSS line disappear?
If the "Keep only most-recent MSS line per side" setting is enabled, the indicator automatically deletes the previous line when a new shift in the same direction is detected to keep the chart clean.
